More exciting news for Indian anime fans after One Piece Film Red India release date reveal,
On Friday, Sony announced that Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO is set to be dubbed and launched in Hindi across Indian theatres along with English and Japanese dub with English subtitles. A film from the dragon ball franchise will be dubbed in Hindi for the first time and make a theatrical release in India, It is also the second film from the franchise after Broly to release in India, It is scheduled to release on August 26 in more than 500 screens across India by Cruncyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment India.
Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO was released in Japan on June 11, 2022, and grossed ¥2.48 billion ($18.1 Million) in Japan and in North America on Aug 19, 2022, and has already grossed $10.8 Million on the first day and set for big opening weekend, Toei experimenting Super Hero release by partnering with Sony for a bigger global release and it seems to be working, thought japan figures could have been better and in India, they are releasing it in more than 500 screens for comparison in India, PVR released Jujutsu Kaisen 0 in 200 screens with 50,000 advance ticket sales across India, It had an opening weekend of ₹5.4 crore (US$680,000), granted Dragon Ball is more mainstream, but the Sony and Crunchyroll distribution does seem to give it a bigger push and also now with regional dubs and is now set to create new box office records in India.
Sony also started airing Naruto on Sony YAY! channel in regional dubs of Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Bengali, After Toei and Sony partnership, expected One Piece Film Red to be also released by them in India but it’s distributed by PVR and ODEX like most other Anime theatrical releases here, Toei still experimenting, It really is a surreal time for Indian anime fans.
